Guangzhou hosts pilot of Premier League Primary Stars

British Council and Premier League partnered with Guangzhou Education Bureau to pilot the Premier League Primary Stars teacher training programme.

The initiative aims to support local teachers in delivering engaging and inclusive physical education (PE) lessons to primary and middle school children.

The first stage of the training, delivered in October 2024, brought together 40 participants, including teachers from across the Guangzhou city districts and a group of PE researchers. Over the five days, attendees explored practical approaches to teaching PE, focusing on activities that inspire children and young people to be active and develop essential life skills.

The next phase of the programme will build on the foundations laid during this first stage, offering further opportunities for participants to enhance their skills and share experiences.

This pilot marks an important step in strengthening PE teaching in Guangzhou and fostering a positive approach to sport and physical activity in schools.
